Our Story…
The Office of Science Communication (OSC) was born from a shared frustration and a bottle of rice wine.
We saw creative communicators struggling to find meaningful work, and skilled scientists unable to find them.
So, we decided to fix it.
OSC serves a dual mission; assisting those who need their science communicated,
and those who do the communicating.
We empower freelance science communicators by facilitating network connections, providing training and resources, and offering mentoring and guidance.
We make it easy for science organisations to find brilliant freelancers to help make their science, clear, engaging, and effective.
Through curated, strategic matchmaking, we connect communicators, organisations, and audiences. Encouraging collaboration to create clarity, connection, and better outcomes for everyone. Championing science and effective science communication into the future.
OSC envisions a future where science communication is a respected, embedded element of every research project, policy rollout, and public initiative.
Vision
We see a future where science communicators form a collaborative network. Where knowledge and resources
are shared, ideas ripple outward, and no one rises alone.
Connect - To facilitate curated connections between organisations and freelance science communicators.
Collaborate - To build a culture of collaboration and professional growth, where success is celebrated and competition is replaced with community.
Champion - To champion science communication as a recognised, respected, essential professional practice.
